Szłapka attacks Nawrocki after his second veto. “The determination to protect Zondacrypto was stronger than the interests of Poles.”
The dispute over the crypto-asset market law has entered a new, much more heated phase. After the Sejm failed for the second time to override the presidential veto, government spokesman Adam Szłapka openly attacked Karol Nawrocki. He spoke of “protecting Zondacrypto” and of a memo from the secret services that the president allegedly received before the second veto.

Szłapka: the president received a note from the services before the second veto
In a statement to the Polish Press Agency (PAP) on Saturday, Adam Szłapka stated that Karol Nawrocki was aware of the scale of the uncertainty surrounding Zondacrypto before he blocked the bill again. A government spokesman said that the president received “an appropriate note from the services” before the second veto, yet he decided to maintain his opposition to the regulation.
It was then that the strongest words in this entire political exchange were spoken.
Before the second veto, the president received a note from the intelligence services. And yet, his determination to protect Zondacrypto was stronger than the interests of the Polish people.”
Szłapka also argued that the government’s bill was intended to regulate the market in line with European law and provide the state with real oversight tools. According to the ruling camp, the current problem is that, despite the veto, there are still no regulations in place that would allow for effective control of this market segment.
The Sejm again failed to overturn the veto on the crypto-assets bill
On Friday, April 17, 2026, the Sejm (lower house of parliament) once again failed to override Karol Nawrocki’s veto of the crypto-asset market bill. This is the second time that presidential opposition has blocked the passage of legislation intended to implement EU regulations governing this sector.
